Nothing New Under the Sun: p. 95-99 in the book above.
The Nephites reported a millennial lifestyle that lasted almost 166 years following the coming of Christ. Perhaps the first half of 4 Nephi is a prophetic parallel of the millennium we look forward to and the Second Coming of the Prince of Peace. It may also be prophesying of the end of the millennium when Satan will be loosed for a season, just as he was loosed among the Nephites beginning at a.d.201 gaining great "hold up their hearts" (4 Nephi, 1:28)
This is consistent with the MesoAmerican picture. The Mayan royalty of 200 B.C had their beginnings in the middle of the first century B.C, just like the A.D 200 wicked Nephite (MULEKITE) priests had their beginnings with the 67 B.C. king men (Alma 51:8)
Eventually this all changed and by A.D 320, the end of 4 Nephi, the apostasy was in full effect. This is the same time that the Great Apostasy took place in the old world. IN other words, Satan was working opposite sides of the world with the same exact tactics. During A.D. 400, Moroni informs us that the Lamanites put to death all of those who would not deny the Christ. This suggests that perhaps Moroni was not the only one that had to flee the area. Like the Jews dispersion at A.D70, there appears to have been a Nephite dispersion at A.D 400. (MORONI 1:2, 3)
2 For behold, their wars are exceedingly fierce among themselves; and because of their hatred they put to death every Nephite that will not deny the Christ.
3 And I, Moroni, will not deny the Christ; wherefore, I wander whithersoever I can for the safety of mine own life.
I propose (the author not me lol) that it was the middle classic A.D 400 Mayans that the great prophet Nephi saw in vision 600 years before the birth of Christ, when he wrote 1 Nephi 12:12, 15
12 And I, Nephi, also saw many of the fourth generation who passed away in righteousness...
15 And it came to pass that I looked and beheld the people of my seed gathered together in multitudes against the seed of my brethren; and they were gathered together to battle.
1 Nephi 12:19, 21
19 And while the angel spake these words, I beheld and saw that the seed of my brethren did contend against my seed, according to the word of the angel; and because of the pride of my seed, and the temptations of the devil, I beheld that the seed of my brethren did overpower the people of my seed
21 And I saw them gathered together in multitudes; and I saw wars and rumors of wars among them; and in wars and rumors of wars I saw many generations pass away. (SEE MORMON 6 AND MORO. 1;1 FOR THE FULFILLMENT OF THAT PROPHECY.)
