Tamar Tephi - the eldest daughter of Zedekiah, and, after her father's deposition and the slaughter of all her brethren (2 Kings 25:6 and 7), the de facto Queen of Judah - was named after her remote ancestress, Tamar, the daughter-in-law of Judah (Gen. 38:6), and this name ("a palm"), a favorite cognomen for ladies of the Royal Family of Judah (1 Chron. 3:9; 2 Sam. 14:27), was indicative of her high parentage, while the qualifying affix, Tephi ("beautiful" or "endearing"), also formed an appropriate designation for the lovely Jewish Princess.

When the time came for Tamar to give birth, her midwife discovered she was carrying twins. Surprisingly, one of the infants put forth its hand, to which the midwife promptly tied a red string, saying, “This one came out first.” Assuming that it would be born first, the midwife was simply trying to keep track of which baby was the firstborn. But the child withdrew its hand and the other baby was born first. To this unexpected turn of events, the midwife declared, “What a breach you have made for yourself!”—or, “This breach be upon you!” (verse 29). Fittingly, this male child was named Pharez, meaning breach. His twin brother who had put forth his hand was named Zarah, meaning dawn—a name that suggests he came first. One must wonder why this story is included in Scripture, for this breach is never again mentioned. What purpose could there be to these remarkable events? Think of DEM (Blue) vs REpublicans (Red). The Red String is significant because there is a certain group that uses it for a purpose in Holly Wood.

The unusual circumstances surrounding the twins’ birth no doubt caused some controversy as to which child was truly the firstborn. At stake were the rights of the firstborn, a prominent aspect of Hebrew culture. The twins were born a short time prior to Jacob relocating his family to Egypt. Once in Egypt, it would be another 17 years or so before Jacob would give his prophecy of Genesis 49. Thus, when the boys were born, it was not yet known that Judah’s offspring would inherit rights of royalty (Gen. 49:10). Because of this unique inheritance—the rights of royal lineage—the Pharez- Zarah controversy became paramount. Royal lineage was at stake.

This birth was a matter of great and special significance because Judah's other sons could not inherit the prophetic promise that from his descendants would come the future Royal Family of the nation of Israel. This was because they were the children of a forbidden union -- their mother was a Canaanite!

Eventually Pharez was declared the rightful heir, and from him descended the official branch of the Tribe of Judah and the Davidic Royal House.

Now how did Zara and his descendants react to what they, undoubtedly, considered a wrong decision that robbed them of their rightful inheritance?

Sign and Symbols -Since they were descendants of Judah their emblem was a lion. It is very unlikely that they would give up this emblem of their identity and descent -- even though bitterly resentful towards the rest of the Tribe of Judah. They therefore kept the lion as their emblem, but added their own variations to it to show that they were entirely separate and distinct from the Tribe of Judah in Israel. In their bitterness they would make the difference as great as possible without actually doing away with the symbol. So, instead of a tawny couchant lion, they depicted theirs as both rampant and red. As a result, the Rampant Red Lion became an emblem of the Zara branch of the Tribe of Judah.

The tribe of Dan, more than any other of the "lost ten tribes of Israel," left its "signature" wherever it migrated or journeyed. It did so by the unique method of naming rivers, moutains, lakes, villages, towns, bays, and cities after the name of their ancestor -- Dan.

Therefore, tracing the name and routes and migrations of the Danites gives us the evidence we need to trace the other "missing" tribes of Israel to their locations in northwestern Europe, and the world.

The Danites, unfortunately, are still steeped in pagan idolatry and superstition. It has been a warlike tribe. Jacob prophesied of Dan,
