THE RESULT OF SIN AND REBELLION

IT IS TRUE THAT SICKNESS MAY BE SENT

BY GOD AS PUNISHMENT FOR SIN


Genesis 19:11; 20:17-18: And they smote the men that were at the door of

the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied

themselves to find the door. So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed

Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.

18For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of

Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham's wife.


Exodus 9:8-11; 32:35: And the LORD said unto Moses and unto Aaron,

Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it

toward the heaven in the sight of Pharaoh. 9And it shall become small dust

in all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains upon

man, and upon beast, throughout all the land of Egypt.

10And they took

ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up

toward heaven; and it became a boil breaking forth with blains upon man,

and upon beast.

11And the magicians could not stand before Moses

because of the boils; for the boil was upon the magicians, and upon all the

Egyptians. And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the calf,

which Aaron made.


Leviticus 26:16: I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you

terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes,

and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your

enemies shall eat it.


Numbers 12:11; 21:5-7: And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I

beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly, and

wherein we have sinned. And the people spake against God, and against

Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the

wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul

loatheth this light bread. 6And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the

people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died. 7Therefore

the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken

against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take

away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.


Deut. 28:22,27,35,65: The LORD shall smite thee with a consumption,

and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning,

and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall

pursue thee until thou perish. The LORD will smite thee with the botch of

Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof

thou canst not be healed. The LORD shall smite thee in the knees, and in

the legs, with a sore botch that cannot be healed, from the sole of thy foot

unto the top of thy head. And among these nations shalt thou find no ease,

neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee

there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:


1 Samuel 5:6,9,12: But the hand of the LORD was heavy upon them of

Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and smote them with emerods, even

Ashdod and the coasts thereof. And it was so, that, after they had carried it

about, the hand of the LORD was against the city with a very great

destruction: and he smote the men of the city, both small and great, and

they had emerods in their secret parts. And the men that died not were

smitten with the emerods: and the cry of the city went up to heaven.


2 Kings 5:20-27: But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said,

Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his

hands that which he brought: but, as the LORD liveth, I will run after him,

and take somewhat of him.

21So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when

Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to

meet him, and said, Is all well?

22And he said, All is well. My master hath

sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount

Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray

thee, a talent of sliver, and two changes of garments.

23And Naaman said,

Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of

silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them upon two

of his servants; and they bare them before him.

24And when he came to the

tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house: and

he let the men go, and they departed. 25But he went in, and stood before

his master. And Elisha said unto him, Whence comest thou, Gehazi? And

he said, Thy servant went no whither.

26And he said unto him, Went not

mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet

thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and

oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and

maidservants?

27The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee,

and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as

white as snow.


2 Kings 15:5: And the LORD smote the king, so that he was a leper unto

the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house. And Jotham the king's

son was over the house, judging the people of the land.


2 Chron. 26:16-21: But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his

destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into

the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.

17And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of the

LORD, that were valiant men: 18And they withstood Uzziah the king, and

said unto him, It appertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto

the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to

burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither

shall it be for thine honour from the LORD God. 19Then Uzziah was

wroth, and had a censer in his hand to burn incense: and while he was

wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his forehead before the

priests in the house of the LORD, from beside the incense altar.

20And

Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold,

he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from thence; yea,

himself hasted also to go out, because the LORD had smitten him.

21And

Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a

several house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the

LORD: and Jotham his son was over the king's house, judging the people

of the land.

Job 33:19-22: He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the

multitude of his bones with strong pain: 20So that his life abhorreth bread,

and his soul dainty meat.

21His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be

seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.

22Yea, his soul draweth

near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.

Job 33:29-30: Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man, 30To

bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the

living.

Psalms 25:18; 107:17: Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and

forgive all my sins. Fools because of their transgression, and because of

their iniquities, are afflicted.

Zech. 12:4: In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite every horse with

astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon

the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with

blindness.

John 5:14: Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him,

Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto

thee.

Acts 13:10-11: And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child

of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert

the right ways of the Lord? 11And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is

upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And

immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about

seeking some to lead him by the hand.

James 5:15-16: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord

shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven

him.

16Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that

ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth

much.

Rev. 16:2: And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and

there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark

of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.
